Goose feather down 90/10 is amazing in that it is able to trap air molecules in its structure with ease. In practice, this means that when you take the down clothing out of compression bag, it starts to inflate (collecting loft – fluffiness) and forming air cushion. After you pick up the down jacket or crawl into your sleeping bag, the air cushion starts to heat up by your body heat, radiating into the field. The layer of air also prevents cold from reaching your body. 1 gram of feather down is composed of 500-1000 small tufts, depending on their size.
