RET is a breathability measurement method. It expresses the breathability of a substance (energy) that is required to evaporate a certain amount of water at a clearly specified temperature and humidity. The lower the RET value, the more breathable the fabric.

Breathability is the ability of a material to pass water vapor produced by the human body into the surrounding environment. It is very dependent on the surrounding climatic conditions, load and other factors. It is essential for the human body to get rid of these vapors through clothing, otherwise the body would overheat. Breathability is significantly improved by ventilation, which is why clothes are made with ventilation holes.
